People Heal & So Can You

It will take time and effort, but it is possible to exit negative cycles, decrease anxiety symptoms, or improve relationships. Change can come about in many ways, including lots of independent self-reflection and intentional effort, spiritual experiences, and meaningful and/or intimate relationships. Counseling is another way of inviting and experiencing positive change. Counseling is not a one-size-fits-all experience, and there is no one-size-fits-all counselor. It will be essential that you feel comfortable with your therapist. You will be able to determine if you and your counselor are a good fit over the first few interactions with your counselor.

How it Works

Counseling is a process that helps people cope, heal, and correct painful wounds and behaviors, deepening relationship connection and satisfaction. Initially, I want to get to know you and what's causing pain in your life. I will begin to get to know you at our first session or we can schedule an initial 15-minute phone consultation at no expense. After the first few sessions, I will determine a plan or direction that will be helpful to you. I will share my reflections with you during our relationship as we work toward achieving your goals. I give my clients tools and strategies to apply and practice that align with the changes they would like to make. We will repeat this process until we find what works. The duration of counseling varies. Some people come in for 6 weekly sessions and other people spend 1 year or more working in therapy. It depends on many factors, some being the nature of the problem, the length of time it has been going on, and the intensity of the problem. I approach counseling from a Person-Centered theory and draw from evidence-based practices such as Attachment-Based Treatment, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Somatic Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy.

The most important thing to me is for clients to feel supported and make progress toward their goals.

“One can choose to go back toward safety or forward toward growth. Growth must be chosen again and again; fear must be overcome again and again.” Abraham Maslow
